| | Dickens of a Carol | A Dickens of a Carol, presented by Howard Community College, Rep Stage will be presented at historic Belmont—the Georgian colonial mansion built by the Dorsey family in 1738. The evening will begin as attendees drive up the mile-long tree-lined drive, and witness the natural beauty of the Belmont’s 82 acres of rolling meadows and beautiful gardens Upon entering the Manor House, patrons become “guests” as they are met by their host, “Charles Dickens,” with music from the period being played on the piano and harp. Audiences will be transported back to 1843 as “Charles Dickens” begins his storytelling over drinks and appetizers by the roaring fire in the Ballroom. Guests will then move to the dining room to enjoy Act Two of A Dickens of a Carol, and a candlelit dinner highlighting holiday fare from the period. The choice of site for this production of A Dickens of a Carol is also unique—in this case, the site is the set. Whereas most off-site productions are performed within the confines of another theatre space, the Belmont’s Manor House is the theatre. From the beginning to the end of the evening, the audience will be steeped in the time period of the piece (1843), as the 18th century Manor House is the ideal setting in which to hear music from the 1800’s and Charles Dickens’ words being brought to life while moving from room to room enjoying roaring fireplaces, candlelight at dinner with foods from the period, and all the ambiance of the colonial period. | Performance Dates Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Sunday | 7 PM $90 per person plus tax | 7 PM $90 per person plus tax | 7 PM $90 per person plus tax | 1 PM $75 per person plus tax | Dec 1 SOLD OUT | Dec 2 SOLD OUT | Dec 3 SOLD OUT | Dec 6 SOLD OUT | Dec 8 SOLD OUT | | Dec 10 SOLD OUT | Dec 13 SOLD OUT | Dec 15 SOLD OUT | Dec 16 SOLD OUT | Dec 17 SOLD OUT | Dec 20 SOLD OUT |
